Sherrie Hanson Decker and Tom Murray
St. Ansgar Blue Belle Inn takes top honors
Sherrie Hansen Decker, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, owner and operator of The Blue Belle Inn B&B and Tea House, was named "2008 Bed and Breakfast Innkeeper of the Year" by the Iowa Lodging Association during their Annual STAR AWARDS Banquet at the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel on October 26. Sharing the honor, in an unusual tie for the Award, was Ethel Bontrager, of Ethel's Gourmet Kitchen B&B in Kalona, Iowa.

Hansen Decker was recognized for providing outstanding leadership in the Bed and Breakfast industry and exemplary service to the guests she has served since 1992. In presenting the award, Tom Murray, President of the Iowa Lodging Association, said "Sherrie Hansen Decker has always provided the best that Iowa hospitality and lodging has to offer. Sherrie, a member of the Iowa Bed and Breakfast Guild, is a fine example of the "right way" to run a Bed and Breakfast. As an innkeeper, Sherrie is an innovative marketer and is known for her "special events", such as "Murder Mystery Weekends", cooking seminars, wine tastings, and the Blue Belle's "Fondue Feast", which she promotes at her B&B, all of which have combined to make the Blue Belle Inn a very well-known --and popular--Iowa Bed and Breakfast."

Sherrie Hansen Decker is the daughter of Everett and Mary Hansen, rural Austin, MN, and the wife of Rev. Mark G. Decker, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, Thompson, IA.

The recipient of several national awards, The Blue Belle Inn was named one of the Best Bed & Breakfasts in the Midwest by BedandBreakfast.com, one of the internet's most prestigious travel sites. The Inn has eight romantic guest rooms, one of which is handicap accessible, and is open to the public for dinner every Friday and Saturday night, and for lunch on Monday - Saturdays. Additional information about this prize-winning establishment can be found on the internet at www.BlueBelleInn.com.
